Dear Gail and Graham,

On behalf of Andrews’s family, I would like to express our sincere thanks for Andrews’s funeral on the 26th June.

Although from our perspective it was the culmination of a difficult and immensely sad few years, we are grateful for all of your efforts and experience that allowed us to say our final goodbyes and Andrew’s final journey to take place with such dignity.

From the first phone call to ask about Andrew’s collection, your staff acted with such kindness for Andrew it was as if he hadn’t passed at all, not to mention the thoughtfulness for us as a family at that time. Gail’s knowledge, experience and dynamism shone through the first time we spoke and left me feeling that nothing was a problem and it would all work out.

With Graham kindly coming to the house to meet us as a family helped take the pressure off us to get everyone to you. Graham has such a clever mix of compassion, knowledge, experience and humour to gently steer and advise us on what would be the best course for the type of funeral we wanted for Andrew. Even speaking to Aimee about the photos for the order of service was a pleasure, she gave us as much time as possible to find photos that we had in mind – and yet still produced a wonderfully elegant guide that that was very fitting for Andrew.

On the day of Andrew’s funeral, your limousine chauffer Will – as well as the limousine was impeccable. On time and attentive whilst showing great sensitivity to the emotions of all the family, a great combination of polite chat without being overbearing – and without hesitation helped mum get back in to the car at the end of the service, a really nice man whose manner fits in well with everyone that we dealt with at WFS.

We are grateful for everything you have done to make that day a successful start for Andrew’s final journey, all the ‘behind the scenes’ work that when put together gave us Andrew’s service. You helped us in more ways than we can express to bring it all together for what we could afford, Thank you all.

I just wanted to show my appreciation on how beautiful Margaret Pardy's funeral was.

Margaret became a part of my family and the sudden loss of her honestly destroyed me. Even though I have a long way to go, the kindness and professionalism of your funeral service will truly help me with my healing process.

From Gail organising the absolutely gorgeous pink coffin, helping mum with the arranging of the pink flowers and picture of Margaret, to being so kind-hearted and calm when the funeral arrangement was suddenly changed, I will always treasure.

To the brilliant service from Graham and his team, even them wearing pink ties, will always hold a special place in my heart.

The quality of service you provided for my wife Carol's cremation was first class. From the very start when Carol died to the cremation service itself you ensured that everything was dealt with in a dignified and sensitive way. You also recommended Vicky as the celebrant for the service, who was so understanding and helpful - so many people have commented that she did an excellent job in leading the service. The flowers provided by Jayne were beautiful and just what we hoped for. The day of the cremation itself was well organised and Graham and Will provided the best possible support. Finally, the help provided by Aimee and Kerry in the lead up to the service was excellent including preparing the order of service to a high standard and making sure everything went smoothly. Graham and Gail carried out our wishes all the way.After losing my stepdad so suddenly and without warning we were devastated and in shock.Covid has made funerals and grief so cold and different now.Thanks to Graham and Gail for all their effort to give us exactly what we wanted and although funerals aren’t held in the traditional way right now ,my stepdad was buried with love,dignity and respect that he deserved .Gail and Graham are genuine,professional people who work on a personal heartfelt manner which for me, personally made all the difference at the worst time of our lives.My children were and still are heartbroken that Grandad has gone ,but they both took comfort in how his funeral was managed and how both Gail and Graham made them feel at ease that Grandad would leave this earth with the privacy,dignity and respect he had while he was with us. Who to choose to look after my precious Dad who passed away recently?

I really had no idea so I searched online, as one does these days. I liked the look of Wessex Funeral Services so I made a call and got through to Gail. I then visited Kerry in the Winchester office and felt that I'd made a good decision. I then sent a few emails, as my Dad was ex-Navy; the naval associations wanted to be involved which I was very happy about. I emailed Kerry to let her know and within a few hours I heard back from Graham, an ex-Navy person himself. From start to finish I received the utmost help and care. We are living through unprecedented times, with Covid-19, yet they responded to changes without hesitation and at all times acted totally professionally and yet with humour when appropriate. They allowed my Dad to have the best send off possible in such uncertain times. I can honestly recommend them with no hesitation whatsoever.

I very rarely write testimonials but having read such positive remarks from the other families I felt I needed to echo the thanks and sentiments expressed. It is so difficult when you start to organise a funeral of a loved one – you can hardly ask your friends about funeral services – but reading the comments from others, who had used your services, gave us great confidence that we had chosen well. We were so right and can only thank you for everything you did - for Vicky's lovely words and all the wonderful touches such as the white roses, the service sheet including everything we asked for, and overall for taking the stress out of the whole experience.

The whole family were very pleased with the way Mums funeral was carried out. Everything went perfectly from start to finish and we all loved the red roses to put on the coffin at the end. A very special touch for us all.

We had decided as a family to have a direct cremation for my Mum, however when it came to it our feelings changed and I spoke to Steve Kelly, who I knew worked in the funeral business. None of the family lived in New Milton, we all live in Poole and Bournemouth , but from the moment I spoke to him I knew we would be entrusting our Mum to Wessex. Steve was kind but professional, he organised everything effortlessly and all arrangements were in place. He never batted an eyelid when at the last minute, due to family discussion, everything was changed! Once again he guided me through the process for a full funeral at Poole Crematorium. This was carried out just before Christmas and was, despite the sadness, a wonderful day. Everything was smoothly arranged and executed, Steve was always at the end of the phone. His recommendation for Mum's flowers was spot on (Flower Vogue) and the Celebrant Vicky Wesley, was a great find, wonderful. The whole thing, from start to finish, which we were dreading was such a positive experience. Once again our thanks to Steve and Vicky.

Our most heartfelt thanks go to you and your wonderful family for arranging the funeral of my late husband Bryan. It was a devastating shock to lose him so suddenly and my family and I are still in a bubble of disbelief not knowing when we are going to wake up out of this horrendous dream. From my first random phone call to you, your air or calmness and detail was such a relief.

After a brief discussion with my children, we arranged to meet with you and from the moment you walked through our door- we realized you were the person to look after Bryan. Your compassion thoughtfulness, attention to detail was second to none and we knew we were safe with you steering us through this uncertain time.

Changes we requested to the Order of Service were dealt with immediately for which we were very grateful. Most endearing to us was your personality! So so respectful, but with an appropriate amount of humour which you judged so well; you made this very sad time more bearable for us all.

When my son came to visit his dad he was heartened by the care and attention Gail had given to his dad which meant his lasting memory would be bearable in time to come.

On the day, your arrangements went like clockwork, (obviously your military background!!) In the sweltering heat, you and your team escorted Bryan with such dignity and respect it made us feel proud and thankful that we had found you.

In conclusion Graham, I thank you and your family, from the bottom of my heart, your professionalism is outstanding, you operate your business through your heart, this is so rare nowadays. I would recommend anyone who is starting this traumatic process to call you, I (we) felt safe secure and exceptionally well supported in your care. Thank you.

Aimee's Order of Service was so well presented and Kerry was very helpful and supportive throughout the whole process.

We found your words at the committal far more appropriate and more moving than the vicar's at the funeral service, and the idea of giving each of us a rose to place on the coffin as a final gift of farewell was so very thoughtful.

Unfortunately, your line of business is not one which you hope to recommend to friends and associates, although we would have no hesitation in doing so and have sung your praises to all who have asked.

You are all a credit to your family, your business, and your profession.

Thank-you for making the funeral so special yesterday. It all worked out so well. The white roses were magnificent and I really felt you all did a marvellous job. The Order of Service cards were so lovely too and I appreciate the extra run around you did for me. The John Lennon song was very Fred.

Most people came to the reception and it all went well.

Although I was not ready to say goodbye to Fred, I feel more peacful. I will always have the memory of the funeral to take with me, through the next obstacles and whatever lies ahead.

Yes I am sure there are competent funeral service companies out there, but the degree which you both seemed to manage us - effortlessly, patiently, with such compassion and dignity yet still getting the job done was truly impressive. I shall be forever thankful. The service itself was simply wonderful and I have had many such comments from those who attended. It made such a difference at an incredibly sad and vulnerable time and I am sure that made a difference to our ability to cope as well as we did.

You also coped with whatever we threw at you, even providing Sarah with her special request. Nothing was to much trouble and I felt truly cared for. Communication was efficient and reliable. You made a potentially stressful event as good as such an event could possible be.

I am so pleased you followed us to the hotel where Janet did a stupendous job and the auction was the icing on the cake.

Following our Father’s fatal accident, my brother and I (in our 30’s) were completely lost and had no idea what to do. From the first phone call with Graham, we felt a sense of relief and understanding. We could never have known how important Graham would become to us both. The personal service we received made the whole thing more bearable and gave us strength. Graham always came to the house when we had to discuss and organise things and without knowing it, that’s what we needed. The costs were clearly laid out, honest and more than reasonable for the services we received.

The obituary, the order of service, the flowers (by Graham’s wife) were all beautiful and just as we wanted. The team that looked after Dad did a great job and when we went to visit him in the chapel of rest, everything had been so thoughtfully completed that it made saying good-bye to him more peaceful and dignified than we could ever have imagined. When the cars came to the house to collect us with the hearse, we were truly touched by the traditional methods used and the dignity and professionalism of the team who all looked immaculate in their red ties, as we had requested

The funeral itself was perfect in every way, dignified, personal and uplifting and I know our Dad would have felt the same about it as we did. We did him proud. So many people commented on how wonderful the service was and how lovely the whole team involved on the day were. Everything we asked for and everything we discussed was made possible by Graham and his team from our song choices through to our extra collage of photographs of Dad to hand out alongside the order of service, they took the stress off of our shoulders at every stage. Not only did Graham and his team do everything we asked but they always went above and beyond – to the extent that Graham contacted L.F.C himself and got the “You’ll never walk alone” flag from the club donated to have over our Dad’s casket. This was honestly one of the most thoughtful and kind things I have ever known.

We have never experienced this level of support and care in any walk of life so our words will never do justice to how much we respect and admire what Graham and his team at Wessex Funeral Services do. The importance and significance of a funeral director is not understood until someone you love passes away. We think of Graham as a friend and will never lose touch with him as he has been such a huge part of our lives now. We could never thank him enough for everything he did for us through the most difficult time of our lives so far. We couldn’t recommend this company more highly and if anyone finds themselves in the same situation as us and isn’t sure who to choose – put your trust in Graham, he won’t let you or your loved one down.
